The spot your dad went camping as a kid might not be the first place that comes to mind as your dream wedding venue. That is, unless you're lucky bride Lauren, whose dad's childhood camp is now part of The Eseeola Lodge in North Carolina. With this gorgeous venue (mountains, lakes, rolling green hills) as the ultimate backdrop, Event Planner & Designer Calder Clark and Floral Designer Blossoms Events really went to town! Working in a palette of green and white to reflect the stunning natural setting, they created custom embroidered linens, and garlands of greenery everywhere you look. Best of all, this wedding has some of the most jaw dropping florals, and you won't believe an entry to a barn can be transformed like this until you see it!

The Ceremony

Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? When my dad was a kid, he went to camp at Camp Yonahnoka, which is now part of The Eseeola Lodge, where we held the entire wedding. I knew I wanted to get married in the mountains (my favorite place ever!), and this had special family ties. Plus, it has a breathtaking view of the lake and the mountains.

Your ceremony in three words. Romantic, traditional, elegant.

Is there anything else that you'd like to share about your wedding ceremony? One of my favorite elements of the ceremony was that my aisle was about 75 yards long! I came down this huge hill from the Pavilion to Pachelbel's Canon in D, and had a nice long time to chat with my Dad.

How did you go about planning your ceremony? Our planner Calder Clark and her team sent us a timeline template for the whole day, including the ceremony. In terms of the content, we worked with our officiant to write the ceremony based on a combination of different templates he provided.

Who officiated your ceremony? How did you choose him/her? I don't remember how we originally found our officiant, but we're so glad we did - he was a lovely person and willing to accommodate us in any way. We met at Panera Bread to discuss everything and just knew he was the one!

What were your vows like? We used traditional vows provided by our officiant.

The Reception

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Rustic weddings from theknot.com

What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding? Get a wedding planner!

What type of cake or dessert did you serve? An almond cake with hazelnut and pistachio piping.

What was your first dance song? Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran.

How would you describe your reception? Laid back - and a total blast!

What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? Every time we looked around and just tried to take it all in. We were in awe of all the people who traveled all that way to celebrate us. It was magical to look in on all of our loved ones having a great time. We didn't want to forget a single detail!

What was the best advice you received as a bride? That the whole tone of the wedding is set by the bride's mood. So I let go of the small stuff (there wasn't really anything though!) and just had fun. Everyone commented on how happy I looked!

If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? No!
